Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya visited Security Forces Headquarters in Wanni on yesterday (25 July) morning to meet all Security Forces Commanders and other senior Field Commanders in North and East.

Lieutenant General Jayasuriya was received by the Commander, Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni) Major General Kamal Gunarathna on his arrival. The soldiers of SFHQ (Wanni) accorded a Guard Turnout to the Army Commander in SFHQ (Wanni) premises.

During the conference that followed, a special attention was drawn on the security situation in respective areas. In addition, Army Commander with his SF Commanders and other senior officers discussed the possibilities to give their maximum contribution towards the Government's development programme in North and East. All five SF Commanders from Jaffna, Wanni, Mullaittivu, Kilinochchi and East attended the conference. It was the first occasion that all SF Commanders together met Army Commander. This was his second visit to Wanni within a span of seven days.
